FOSSSIL announces the 5th LISSIM to take place in Kangra, May 25-June 8, 2011, surrounded by the Dhaula Dhar range of Himalayan mountains. The Summer School venue is ideal for communal living and learning, devoid of the usual distractions of a city, town or even a touristy hill station. (see below for more on the venue)

The teaching faculty will consist of the following established experts in formal linguistics topics

Given the above faculty list and popularity of the theme, the admission to the School is likely to be highly competitive and since the number of student participants is limited to 25, prospective participants are therefore requested to apply as soon as possible. Students from India are requested to apply for membership to FOSSSIL by writing an email of intention to secretary@fosssil.in, with a copy to ayesha.kidwai@gmail.com. All prospective students for the School are requested to send an email to the same address with the following information latest by 1st April, 2011 (extended to: 15th April 2011):

In addition, all student applicants are required to request their research supervisor\syntax-semantics teacher for a letter assessing the student’s capabilities and motivation in the subject area.

The first list of participants will be declared by 15th April (extended to: 16th April 2011) and interviews by video conferencing or in person in Delhi will be conducted 16-17th April (extended to:  21st April). The final list of selected participants will be made available on April 22, 2011.

The registration fee ($350 for student/ teacher participants from outside India, Rs. 6500 for students participant and Rs. 11500 for teacher participants from India) will cover accommodation (at least twin sharing), food for 14 days of the School, and reading materials.
